Policy Manager – Energy Transition Platform

Policy Manager sought by leading Power & Renewables Independent Power Producer.

Working within the decision centre of the business, you will be analysing and reporting on policy and regulatory proposals, identifying market opportunities and risks, supporting strategy and business case development.

The company are perhaps the market leader for Grid Balancing in the UK. They develop, build, own and operate projects that enable a greater penetration of Renewable Energy in the UK’s energy system. The portfolio features Battery Energy Storage, Pumped Storage Hydropower, Hydrogen Ready Thermal Power, Hydrogen Electrolysis co-located with Renewable Generation, and Subsurface Hydrogen Storage.

 

Policy Manager Day-Day activities:

  • Responsible for tracking & reviewing & reporting on all industry developments

  • Disseminating information to team through meetings and more detailed reviews

  • Producing position papers, consultations responses, and other supporting documentation on relevant policy topics

  • Maintain a strong grasp of competitive landscape and business models

  • Preparing supplementary material to support policy objectives (such as presentations, & analysis internal or external)

  • Stakeholder management building and maintaining relationships with political, civil service, and industry figures.

  • Maintaining a policy tracker, where all policy developments and positions are monitored

  • Identifying and influencing the evolving hydrogen & pumped storage policy, regulatory, and commercial landscape

  • Support non-specific policy & regulatory activities, such as Licensing, Metering, and compliance (e.g. Capacity Market rules interpretation)

  • Support in designing, reviewing, and drafting funding/support applications (including the Capacity Market)

The ideal Policy Manager will have:

  • A proven background in energy

  • The ability to understand how policy changes may impact the broader energy landscape

  • Awareness of key policy makers and opinion formers and how they operate

  • The ability to influence key stakeholders with strong, evidence-based analysis


This is a London-based role, with a strong preference for a 4-day office working week  There is flexibility but having office time is seen as key to influencing business stakeholders.
