Commercial Director UK – International Power & Energy
Commercial Director sought by fast growth International Energy Project Developer, Owner and Operator. You will be a proven leader and have a strong track record of personal accomplishment at a senior level within the energy sector, ideally with experience of working in adjacent energy segments such as On-site generation, Grid balancing, Renewable Generation or Oil & Gas among others.
As Commercial Director, you’ll be able to work successfully with a range of stakeholders, including energy consumers (Large clients), government bodies and delivery partners.
While leading the commercial and business development of our client as they expand through the UK, you will manage a growing team of professionals who will identify industrial/commercial customers with whom our client can sign long term energy supply agreements.
Alongside excellent communication skills, and the ability to maintain a robust regulatory position when required, you will possess a passion for energy and industrial decarbonisation, as well as a proactive and agile leadership style with the ability to listen, engage, and collaborate to enable the organisation to deliver its challenging remit.
Key deliverables:
● Segment the market and bring clarity and ruthless focus to our market development and pursuit strategies, ensuring we deploy our resources on only the right opportunities.
● Lead on the development of the value proposition – ensuring this is road tested and fit for purpose
● Develop our suite of contracts so they are fit-for-purpose, including leading on our contracting strategies and contract template to support
that
● Personally engage on the first opportunities, engaging at multiple levels within the target organisations and driving these through to close.
● Build a team made up of top-class business development and commercial talent
● Ensure projects are developed and taken through governance, including through FID at investment committee.
Requirements – experience, skills and competencies
● Extensive demonstrable experience in a senior commercial or investment role
● Project origination and business development experience- able to generate new leads and opportunities
● Excellent commercial acumen with a good understanding of PPAs and Land contracts.
● Strong valuation experience – able to drive and manipulate discounted cashflows for complex Assets.
● Able to lead negotiations on behalf of the business
● Able to navigate corporate structures within client businesses to build advocacy
● Willing to get hands dirty and into the details
