🚀 Head of Greenfield Development – UK Renewables

A well-capitalised, international renewable energy platform is looking to appoint a Head of Greenfield Development to lead and scale its UK development function.

This is a senior leadership role with full accountability for shaping development strategy, building capability, and driving projects from origination through to FID across solar PV, onshore wind and co-located storage.

The opportunity

You will take ownership of the greenfield pipeline and sit at the centre of growth decision-making, working closely with executive leadership, investment teams and delivery functions. The remit blends strategy with execution and requires someone comfortable setting direction while staying close to the detail.

Key focus areas

  • Define and execute the long-term greenfield development strategy aligned with portfolio growth targets
  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team covering development, land, planning, grid and external advisors
  • Oversee the full project lifecycle from origination to FID, ensuring consistency, pace and quality of outcomes
  • Set portfolio prioritisation frameworks, budgets, governance and stage-gate processes
  • Own senior stakeholder engagement with landowners, planning authorities, communities and partners
  • Provide development input into investment cases, valuations, JV structures and acquisition opportunities
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on development risk, opportunity and regulatory landscape

The profile

  • 10+ years’ experience in UK renewable energy project development
  • Proven track record taking multiple projects through planning to FID
  • Strong understanding of UK planning, land and grid processes
  • Demonstrable leadership capability, either through line management or leading complex, multi-disciplinary programmes
  • Commercially astute, able to operate credibly with investors and executives
  • Experience across solar, wind and or storage strongly preferred

Why this role

  • Backed by a long-term infrastructure owner with a strong balance sheet
  • Operating assets plus a sizeable UK development pipeline
  • Genuine mandate to shape structure, process and culture
  • High visibility role with clear progression as the platform scales
