Commercial Analyst – Energy Transition Platform

Commercial Analyst sought by leading Power & Renewables Independent Power Producer.

The company are perhaps the market leader for Grid Balancing in the UK. They develop, build, own and operate projects that enable a greater penetration of Renewable Energy in the UK’s energy system. The portfolio features Battery Energy Storage, Pumped Storage Hydropower, Hydrogen Ready Thermal Power, Hydrogen Electrolysis co-located with Renewable Generation, and Subsurface Hydrogen Storage.

Working within the decision centre of the business, you will support the Commercial Manager in analysing market and company fundamentals and performance, supporting strategy and business case development.

 

Commercial Analyst Day-to-Day activities:

  • Carrying out commercial analysis of market fundamentals

  • Market reporting

  • Supporting and contributing to trading performance review

  • Preparation of bidding strategies for ancillary services and Capacity Market

  • New ancillary services / Capacity Market contract management

  • Asset technical analysis

  • Providing wider ad-hoc analysis as required to support business needs

 

The ideal Commercial Analyst will have:

  • Previous experience working on energy-related projects or policy

  • 2-4 years of experience working either within an energy consulting firm, or as a stakeholder in the energy industry (e.g. Utilities, IPP, financial services, consultancy, …)

  • Experience and knowledge of flexible technologies and/or renewables sectors, with a good understanding of project economics

  • A solid understanding of UK power market fundamentals

  • Proficient in Excel models and PowerPoint presentations

  • Competence in data analytics (SQL/Python) is beneficial but not a prerequisite

This is a London-based role, with a strong preference for a 4-day office working week. There is flexibility but having office time is seen as key to influencing business stakeholders.
