Responsibilities
Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, the Project Engineer (Civil) shall be part of a team responsible for delivering the engineering for a portfolio of utility scale gas peaking and energy storage projects. This shall include:
1. Design Co-ordination for one or more projects:
Co-ordinate the design inputs from all contractors responsible for design on site
Proactively identify design issues early and resolve these issues or escalate to the head of engineering
Lead design co-ordination meetings between all contractors responsible for design
Manage the design register and provide regular updates to the project team
Manage contractors’ deliverable due dates and ensuring contractors deliver their required design deliverables correctly and on time
2. Support Document Control for one or more projects:
Manage all drawings and calculations required for the project
Ensure correct and latest revisions of all drawings and calculations are used by all contractors in the design, development and construction of the project.
3. Communicating Design Information between Contractors and to Site Team for one or more projects:
Regular site visits to review design developments with site based team and to assist project management team in any design related issues that arise during construction
4. Design Development of future projects
Support the Engineering Director in developing designs and specifications and evaluating contractors for future battery and gas peaking plants
5. Undertaking an Owners Engineer role from a civil, structural and architectural (CSA) point of view, providing review of CSA design work undertaken by contractors for both their own and other projects constructed by the team.
6. Providing high level specification of civil design
Earthworks, Drainage, Trenching/Ducting, Foundations, etc
7. Representing the company in meetings with designers, suppliers and on site
Useful Additional Skills
In addition to the main duties, it would be beneficial if the Project Engineer had some or all of the following skills:
Knowledge of energy plant design and construction
AutoCAD 2D
3D CAD Design
Key Personal Characteristics
Attention to detail
Written and verbal communication, including interfacing with third parties
Building relationships with both office-based and site-based teams
Experience
3+ years experience within a renewables or energy generation environment (such as gas peaking plants or energy storage) or comparable sectors, supporting design and/or construction projects.
Qualifications
MEng in Civil Engineering or equivalent
Preferably actively working towards professional registration
