Technical Development / Grid Manager – Renewable Energy Developer & IPP

This renewable developer is backed by a power giant, developing its renewable energy presence in the UK and Europe. The business owns & operates over 900MW of assets across Solar, Wind & BESS projects.

Over the next five years, they plan to grow to 2-2.5 GW of assets by the end of 2025, and seeks highly motivated and capable individuals to join its UK team based in central London.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead on technical design and engineering activities for development-stage renewable energy and energy storage projects, including grid connection feasibility studies and energy yield analysis.

  • Work alongside technical advisors to assess technical characteristics of development-stage renewable energy projects during due diligence.

  • Strong emphasis on leading meetings with DNOs and ICPs, challenging where necessary to develop grid connection offers and progress grid works during construction and commissioning.

  • Advise the Investment team on key inputs to financial model, including grid connection costs and timeframes, energy yield, construction costs, O&M costs, construction programme and operational lifetime.

  • Optimise wind, solar and battery projects through use of analysis tools (e.g. PVsyst, PVcase, Windographer, WAsP, etc.) – support will be provided to the successful candidate to develop these skills.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or similar

  •  Minimum 5 years’ experience in a technical role related to grid connections and/or electrical design of renewable energy projects in the UK

  • Good knowledge of the connection process for new generation projects (ideally renewables) to the distribution network in the UK (transmission network knowledge is a bonus)

  • Experience operating CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD) to produce technical drawings and SLDs

  • Interest in renewable energy and energy storage, good understanding of renewable energy technologies (wind and solar)

 

The successful candidate will benefit from a competitive salary, generous bonus structure between 15%-30%, strong 10% match pension contribution & a flexible working model!
