Senior Grid Engineer – Renewable Energy, Energy Storage & Hydrogen Electrolysis IPP

 

Grid Lead sought by established Independent Power Producer who develop, build, finance and operate a range of Renewable Energy, Energy storage and future Hydrogen Electrolysis assets across the UK.

 

The successful Senior Grid Engineer will play an essential role across the full life cycle of each project. Your involvement will start working closely with the Project Development team in managing the relationships with National Grid and the assorted DNO’s.

 

It will continue as a key part of the Project Delivery function where you will be coordinating with key project partners, selecting and managing ICP’s, overseeing technical discussions and negotiating commercials relating to connection offers.

 

The platform have a strong track record and operational portfolio having built > 1GW of projects in the UK. They have over 1GW in construction right now and a total pipeline in excess of 15 GW’s. This includes Pumped Storage Hydro, Electrolysis, Battery Energy Storage and Solar PV.

 

Location – Our client has a London HQ. Many of the key staff live in other parts of the country and there is an established flexible working policy.

 

Senior Grid Engineer key responsibilities:

 

Grid Code Compliance:

Grid Code Compliance works for ongoing projects:

  • Manage and lead grid code compliance works for future projects including:

  • Review studies done by consultants

  • Act as main point of contact with NGESO

  • Manage and collate submissions

Project Engineering:

Assist Electrical Engineers with closing out live projects including:

  • Assisting with managing contractors

  • Undertaking reviews of design deliverables

  • Assisting with documents control

 

Front End Engineering Design:

Produce FEED deliverables including:

  • Single Line Diagrams / associated Electrical Engineering work

  • Main Equipment Layouts

  • High level calculations

  • Work with Lead Engineers and/ or external consultants to develop conceptual designs to a level suitable for planning submissions

  • Review designs with focus on constructability, safety and costs

 

Grid Development / NGESO & NGET Project Management:

  • Assist Development Team in handling new and ongoing grid applications and connection offers

  • Project Manage ongoing liaison with NGESO and NGET for pipeline project connections.

  • Project Manage existing TEC agreements helping keep the Company compliant with its grid contracts.

  • Manage 3rd party grid consultancies on behalf of the Company

 

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering background

  • > 5 years of relevant experience

  • Exposure to transmission connections preferred but distribution level also considered

  • Knowledge of the UK Power market

  • Chartered electrical engineer preferred
