Land Manager – Solar & BESS
A Land Manager is sought by an established renewable energy developer who develops, finances, builds, and operates a range of Renewable Energy, Energy storage assets across the UK.
Joining the Development Team, you will lead key aspects of site finding and land agreements for its rapidly growing portfolio of energy infrastructure assets.
The successful Land Manager will play an essential role in securing land and supporting the progression of projects through the development process
The developer currently has over 2GW of projects in the development pipeline (solar and BESS) and 240MW under asset management including 7 solar sites that have been developed in-house in addition to hundreds of commercial and domestic roof-top installations. Their ambition is to scale this portfolio significantly and they’re well placed to do so having raised significant capital. Assets currently under development include Solar and BESS.
Location – The Land Manager role is hybrid, working 2-3 days in the office and the remainder remotely. There may be a significant amount of travel involved.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify and qualify sites that are suitable for BESS and solar projects.
Develop land lease/acquisition strategies for green field projects, existing projects and project acquisitions.
Be the primary internal contact with landowners in the site origination process.
Prepare update notes on project the development phase and progress and to landowners.
Negotiate and acquire easements/leases for BESS and solar development and related agreements from project landowners.
Collaborate with the legal team to oversee the delivery of accurate and complete agreements.
Engage with and assist the project development team through the development process.
Manage land portfolio by communicating with landowners as necessary for the development team to develop the project to “shovel ready” status.
Stay up to date with applicable regulations as they relate to the development of the battery and solar projects.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
Undergraduate degree in real estate or surveying, rural enterprise, or land management.
A background in energy development is desirable.
An understanding of the project development process is desirable.
Desire to take ownership of individual projects and be judged on the project’s success.
Willingness and ability to initiate contact via cold or warm leads.
Understanding of the planning system as they relate to energy developments.
Interest in renewables development with an existing network within the industry.
