Head of M&A– Renewable Energy Platform
Our client, a private equity backed European Renewable Energy Platform have recently entered the UK market, acquiring several power generation assets.
With ambitions to invest up to £1bn in the UK distributed energy sector, they are looking to appoint a Head of M&A to lead further M&A activity, taking overall responsibility for deal origination and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & origination: Input and support to strategic planning and deal origination.
Deal management: Lead and oversee the entire lifecycle of M&A transactions, with particular focus from the decision to pursue a deal to executing the final transaction.
Team coordination: Assemble and manage cross-functional deal teams, both in-house and external advisors, including M&A, finance, technical, operations and legal and other functions as needed for the deal.
Deal structuring, drafting and negotiation: Leading deal structure options, negotiation, and documentation in close collaboration with commercial, financial, legal
and operational colleagues and advisors.
Deal and investment governance: Responsibility for coordinating deal materials and submission for investment committee and other governance review and approvals.
Risk management: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with the deal, including commercial, legal, regulatory,
or operational, and develop contingency plans to address.
Overseeing the financial modelling process and providing guidance to juniors.
Requirements:
At least 7 years of experience in M&A in investment banking, private equity,
or corporate development.
Experience leading UK-based M&A transactions for assets or projects in energy infrastructure strongly preferred (£5M - £200M+).
Demonstrated understanding of distributed energy projects/systems, market dynamics and regulatory landscape.
Extensive experience in deal execution and closure, negotiation, due diligence processes and management of external advisors.
Strong quantitative, analytical skills, excel and power point capabilities.
Ideally outstanding academic record with a degree in a relevant discipline.
