Position Summary
You will be working with the Management Board, Development, Construction and Operation Departments and will be responsible for the developing handover processes between development, construction and operations teams, ensuring smooth, knowledge-sharing transition between project phases. You will provide active management of assets during construction and operations (with a specific focus on HSE, budget and delivery timing).
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
· Identify, develop and implement standarised processes (across full project lifecycle) to ensure Vortex can work as effectively and efficiently as possible, including:
o Document administration
o Interface management
o Risk management
o Schedule management
o Budget control/commercial management
o QHSE management
o Design review management
o Contract management
o Reporting
o Construction strategy
o Operations strategy
o Trusted/approved subcontractor network
o Capture and implement lessons learnt from construction and operations;
· In conjunction with HSE manager, develop and implement safety-first culture at Vortex;
· In conjunction with department heads, develop and optimise resource strategy for development, construction and operations teams; ensuring teams are resourced adequately in terms of people, experience and competences to deliver on existing and future workloads;
· Lead technical due diligence processes during the project development phase. This includes being responsible for (1) ensuring technical and commercial risks are suitably identified, considered and mitigated as part of each project and investment case and; (2) technical sign-off requirements for investment or go/no-go decisions;
· Assess project opportunities from early to late stage (pre and post permit) including teasers, models, IMs, due diligence reports, energy yield reports, construction and operations contracts, etc.;
· Project-manage core project development workstreams, interfacing with financial advisory teams to ensure appropriate structuring for project financing. You will also provide commercial advice on the deal structure and documentary controls;
· Key focus on supporting grid application and easement processes;
· Provide active input/support into Vortex’s development structure/strategy, with a particular focus on site selection criteria, technology selection and CAPEX/OPEX benchmarking;
· Provide active input into the project structure/strategy, with a particular focus on ensuring projects meet the standards of Vortex’s risk appetite and project-finance standards;
· Optimize project design and model financial outcomes through technology selection and other project parameters, ensuring maximum value-delivery and balanced-risk;
· Lead construction and operations contracts (e.g. TSA, BOP, O&M, asset management and construction management) tender processes and contract negotiations, ensuring final contract structures and contracts are deemed bankable;
· Create and maintain off-the-shelf, bankable construction and operations contracts that can be used as the baseline for all Vortex tenders;
· Provide contract management and technical support to construction and operations team during the respective construction and operational phases.
· Develop subcontractor strategy/network/scope/contracts in conjunction with construction and operations team leads
· Develop handover processes between development, construction and operations teams, ensuring smooth, knowledge-sharing transition between project phases.
· Ensure Vortex construction and operations teams perform quality assurance and control of the construction/operations contractor’s (e.g. BoP, TSA, etc.) activities and verify execution of scope under the respective contracts;
· Actively and continually scrutinise and optimise asset OPEX and performance, ensuring assets are delivering maximum value to Vortex.
Qualifications and Experience
· Experience working in at least two of the following technologies: onshore wind, offshore wind, solar PV, hydrogen or battery storage;
· Experience working in Polish market;
· Extensive previous experience advising the business on investments related to the engineering, construction and operation risks associated with equity investment and lending in both existing and new projects;
· Strategic and commercial thinker;
· Significant, leadership experience of 10+ years of working on renewable energy projects from development through to construction and into operations. Wider engineering experience up to 15 years;
· Demonstrable understanding of investor/lender technical due diligence requirements, a successful track record leading and managing complex projects;
· Specialized depth of expertise within your discipline, with strong commercial awareness, and able to influence the development of strategy within own area, including control of resources and influences policy formulation;
· Experience with commercial and technical risk management, excellent networking and communication skills, and strong analytical, report writing and presentation skills;
· Experience interfacing with wider internal teams, partners, suppliers and consultancies and will be expected to be an ambassador for the business during any external engagement;
· Degree in Engineering (required) and post-graduate qualification in Finance/Business (preferred);
· Full proficiency communicating in English in a business context (verbally & in writing).
