Technical O&M Manager – Clean Energy

We are partnered with a dynamic Developer and Operator of complex renewable energy projects that owns an impressive portfolio consisting of traditional technologies such as Solar and Wind as well as more innovative solutions like CHP, Biomass and Waste-to-Energy. The company are also a fully licensed electricity supplier, and they trade the energy generated by their assets in the wholesale market. On top of this, they also invest in joint ventures such as sustainable agriculture and revolutionary R&D projects.
Within the role you will be responsible for the safe and profitable running of multi-site energy production, including issues resolution for both urgent and long-term operational effectiveness and is the key point of contact for operational delivery. The role requires an understanding of the technical side of the sites.
Responsibilities
Manage the group of Operators, encouraging best practice and shared learnings
Source and manage external contractors ensuring that sites are working at capacity, sub suppliers are providing agreed upon services and warranty claims are reviewed and submitted.
Ensure that all work is completed as agreed, accurately documented and stored.
Working with others on the team, create and report on the technical and financial performance of the sites; offering solution to maximise the performance of the assets
Work with the Compliance manager to ensure compliance on all site rules and regulations, including managing permitting system
Work with the Asset Manager to deliver all required information to maximise all the assets
Develop, maintain and improve operating procedures.
Thorough understanding of the technical operations of the business and expert knowledge of all site systems (heating, electrical, gas) and equipment.
Continuously manage the assets of the company, ensuring that performance is monitored, learnings are shared and improvements are documented.
Schedule routine maintenance with minimal impact on key production times whilst maintaining high availability of operating assets
Analysing trends from building management system (BMS) data or engine control data, to identify improvements and preventative maintenance
Skills
Ability to problem solve – analyse the situation, test theories and to arrive at long term profitable decisions.
Respond with a sense of urgency
Excellent communication skills across multiple stakeholders – Operators, Investors, office colleagues
Attention to detail
MS Office essential and CAD desirable.
ISO 9001 experience desirable
Understanding of metering requirements, and ensuring metering obligations are fulfilled for CHPQA, electricity import/export, sub metering, FIT metering
Team management experience is required; Ideally experience managing remotely
Energy asset management – tracking performance, assessing issues and providing solutions
Mechanical Knowledge – familiar with reciprocating engines, selective catalytic reduction technology, P&IDs, electrical SLDs, transformers, steam production with HRSG, metering.
Sign off method statements, risk assessments and permits to work
