Senior Data Scientist – Energy Trading

Description:
The Data Science team has an impact across the whole business but is specifically focused on trading. You can expect to optimise trading strategies, apply data science workflows to improve operational efficiency, support risk mitigation projects and deliver actionable insights from large, often complex data sets.
You will engage directly with end users and business stakeholders, including Portfolio Managers, traders, quants and C suites, often having to get hands-on with the data and understand what, how and why around the data usage and internal models.
Main responsibilities:
Deliver end-to-end data science solutions for users from data ingestion through to production using advanced analytics/machine learning models using both commercial tools and custom coding.
Explore and standardise new data sets, extract actionable insights, produce visualisation and create predictive models.
Deploy mathematical and statistical fundamentals to improve ML applications.
Develop and fine-tune algorithms specifically designed for proprietary trading strategies.
Help drive alpha for users by assisting with identifying and backtesting of new data sets.
About you:
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field of study
4+ years in industry working as a data scientist with machine learning models applied to real-world data
Excellent Python experience, able to write clean, modular and well-documented code
A strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, statistical methods and Time Series Modelling.
Exceptional communication skills, with the capability to simplify complex data insights.
Experience presenting complex data visually to a wide audience (plotly, bokeh, etc.)
