Project Developer - Clean Energy Agriculture

We are exclusively partnered with a rapidly growing vertical farming company and their mission is to significantly reduce the carbon footprint associated with importing produce and revolutionize the agricultural industry. One of the biggest challenges with vertical farming is securing energy supply however, they have solved this by building their facility next to a renewable power station, so they have unlimited renewable power and green heat. Using this enables them to be able to control the growing environment to make sure the conditions are perfect to produce exceedingly tasty produce.
Together we are looking for a highly skilled project developer to play a vital role in overseeing the development of new vertical farming farms. The successful candidate will manage the entire process from location finding and design to energy contracting.
The role is based in London and you will be expected to travel between companies and other locations when and as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Identify suitable land parcels for vertical farming projects, considering factors such as proximity to markets, access to utilities, and transportation logistics. Conduct negotiations and manage agreements for land acquisition, collaborate with real estate and complete due diligence.
- Lead the development process for new vertical farming sites, ensuring timely and efficient execution of projects by coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, conducting feasibility studies and managing the overall planning process by engaging relevant third parties.
- Collaborate with energy suppliers and contractors to secure reliable and sustainable energy sources for vertical farms.
- Establish and maintain relationships with local authorities, planning departments, and regulatory bodies to navigate the permitting process smoothly.
- Engage with community stakeholders, local residents, and organizations to address concerns and foster positive relationships.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in Land Acquisition or a similar role
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., urban planning, engineering, real estate) is preferred.
- Strong understanding of UK planning regulations and guidelines, with the ability to navigate complex processes efficiently
- Passionate about sustainability/agriculture
