Statera Energy are a fully integrated Independent Power Producer who develop, build, own and operate complex energy infrastructure assets. Their expertise is built around balancing the UK’s power grid. This is done with Battery Energy Storage (Standalone and co-located with sizable renewable generation), Fast response (Peaking plants run historically on natural Gas but going forward, on Biofuels, Hydrogen or a blend), Pumped Storage Hydro and Hydrogen (Production and Storage). Statera have a little under 1GW currently in operation with more than 11GW’s at advanced stages in their project pipeline.
Role: Civil Engineering Manager
Within their Pumped Storage Hydro division, Statera Energy are looking to appoint an experienced Civil Engineering Manager who will take a lead role across two major PSH schemes with a combined 1.5GW capacity.
As the Civil Engineering Manager, You will ensure project designs meet with Statera`s technical, performance and commercial outcomes and are delivered in line with the approved project programme and budget throughout the various stages of Statera`s pumped hydro portfolio project developments.
Civil Engineering Manager Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Manage and lead Engineering resources and third-party consortiums throughout all development stages of pumped hydro storage design and construction in line with local engineering and construction codes and standards.
Coordinate and collaborate with other Engineering resources across the business to ensure consistency in engineering management practice and knowledge sharing
Demonstrate commercial and contractual awareness in dealing with clients and external technical partners
Understand design compliance and reporting procedures and processes and leadership in the communication of requirements
Manage client and stakeholder expectations and communicate effectively with the project team
Foster the interaction between FEED designer, owners engineer, construction teams to maximise innovation and project success
Promote the use of appropriate Digital Engineering tools and methods for managing the design process, feeding into the other project phases
Be able to clearly communicate designs to technical and non-technical audiences
Coordinate, select, and mentor junior Engineering resources where required
Plan and control the delivery of project design to ensure the achievement of quality, completion, and project objectives
Monitor the performance of external technical partners including their deliverables, costs, and timeframes
Manage the design approval process in accordance with project requirements and program
Manage and report the cost of design delivery in the project life cycle
Manage design to ensure the cost of the works meets project requirements
Location: With a London HQ and plans to open an office within Scotland (the location of the projects), there is some flexibility. A Scottish base is likely the preferred option. A remote / flexible approach can be adopted.
Remuneration: A competitive basic salary with bonuses, benefits and other incentives on top.
About You:
This position will require you to hold a degree qualification in Civil / Geo Engineering and have minimum 12 years’ experience coupled with experience in engineering and technical management roles. You will have a proven background in managing technical teams in the delivery of design and engineering solutions ideally pumped hydro / energy storage projects throughout the various stages of development. You will have proven Financial, Commercial and Program Management skills in planning and managing budgets, including reducing costs where practical.
