Simply Energy has announced it will launch smart meters to half a million households across Australia after recently signing a new agreement with Landis and Gyr’s subsidiary intelliHUB.
The energy supplier business told Australian media that the new meters are digital and are completely different to the conventional existing meters. The digital meters allow for two-way communication between customer and business and allow for more efficient display and transmission of information on real-time energy consumption.
Providing more accurate, real-time data from the smart meters will allow further generation of accurate billing and give customers greater control over their use of energy. This type of information provides critical information allow businesses to deliver more innovative offerings.
Simply Energy is an Australian energy retailer, providing electricity and gas to more than 550,000 accounts across Victoria (Australia), South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland, with sales totaling 12% of the Australian market. It is the retail arm of GDF SUEZ Australian Energy, part of GDF Suez, which fully owns Simply Energy.
