Contract Manager

We are working with a renewable energy developer to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager. The business is actively delivering utility-scale Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), and High Voltage (HV) grid connection projects across the UK, with individual project capacities ranging from 50 MW to 500 MW+. This role sits at the core of the commercial function, managing procurement from early-stage market engagement through to post-award contract administration.
The Company:
Our client operates across the full development and construction cycle for large-scale renewable energy assets. Their procurement function works directly with EPC contractors, equipment manufacturers, DNOs, and legal counsel - with commercial rigour playing a central role in how projects are structured, financed, and delivered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end tender processes for EPC, BESS supply, and HV grid connection packages - from RFI and ITT through to bid evaluation and contract award.
- Negotiate and administer NEC4 and FIDIC-based contracts, ensuring robust risk allocation, performance guarantees, and warranty provisions.
- Manage post-award commercial activities including payment applications, variations, claims, and final accounts across active construction projects.
- Produce commercial reporting for internal stakeholders, lenders, and equity investors throughout the project lifecycle.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years' experience in tendering, procurement, and contract management within the energy or infrastructure sector.
- Demonstrable track record managing tenders and contracts for utility-scale Solar PV projects (50 MW+), from development through to financial close and construction.
- Proven experience procuring and administering BESS contracts, including battery supply, integration, and EPC/BoP packages.
- Hands-on experience with HV grid connection procurement, working with DNOs and substation contractors on networks between 33 kV and 132 kV.
- Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline; RICS, CIPS, CIOB, or IET membership is desirable.
