Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Renewable Energy Platform

Our client, a private equity backed European Renewable Energy Platform have recently entered the UK market, acquiring several power generation assets. They are now looking to kick-start their growth in this market and seeking to appoint a commercial CFO to join the leadership team.

The successful CFO will partner with the new UK CEO to lead M&A activity, manage the relationship with the PE backers, build & run the finance function and oversee asset management to drive significant growth towards an anticipated exit in 3-4 years.  

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Working closely with the CEO to assess organisational performance against both the annual budget and company’s long-term strategy.
  • Support development and execution the financial strategy to secure funding for investments, M&A´s and dividends as well as securing bank covenants fulfilment.
  • Engage the executive team and board around issues, trends, and changes affecting the business performance.
  • Proactively provide insights and recommendations to both short-term and long-term initiatives in respect of growth, operational excellence, and risk mitigation.
  • Assist in establishing yearly objectives and oversee budgetary planning and costs management in alignment with company’s strategic plan.
  • Participate in key decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives, operating model, and operational execution.
  • Secure adequate company policies and procedures, (and adherence to such policies), in respect of finance, accounting and financial risk management.
  • Work with commercial teams to manage and monitor risk management and hedging strategies across the business.
  • Secure adequate financial and accounting systems, processes, tools, and control systems supporting current business needs and the company´s long-term strategy.
  • Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting for the benefit of key stakeholders including financing banks and shareholders
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.
  • Represent company towards stakeholders including auditors, tax officials, state officials etc.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant experience as a CFO/Head of Finance or equivalent position in an asset-based environment within the energy sector
  • Experience working with Private equity owners essential
  • Exposure to M&A transactions required along with preferred experience of structuring investments in asset or business acquisitions
  • Relevant experience from long-term investments, cashflow and funding assessment.

 

Strong remuneration potential including MIP equity scheme. London, hybrid working within UK.
